Join us for a continuation of our First Friday artists series! For our November artist we are welcoming to the shop Amira Kotze!
Amira Kotze is a Cape Malay artist based in Raleigh, NC, who works with painting, printmaking, and illustration. Her work focuses on conveying self-awareness and compassion through a blend of surrealism and realism, exploring themes of memory, subconscious thought, emotions, and intimacy.
The series of paintings in "Girlhood" revolves around intimate paintings that delve into the nuances of girlhood. It serves as a visual diary, capturing fleeting moments and introspective reflections on the journey through the landscapes of conformity, loneliness, and sexuality.
