 Meet the Importer!
with Mark Lindzy of José Pastor Selections

Wednesday, October 11th, 6-8 pm

We’re welcoming Mark Lindzy for a tasting of incredible Spanish wines from the José Pastor Selections portfolio. With importers like José Pastor leading the way, from zesty Albariños to powerful wines from Ribera del Duero, the variety and quality of wine we’re seeing from Spain is better than ever.

However, such diversity nearly vanished as recently as a decade ago. Many Spanish growers were producing bulk fruit and juice for France, while the powerhouse winemakers were aping Napa Valley producers in pursuit of scores from wine critics and magazines. But the Parkerization of Spanish wine was halted by importers who championed classic producers crafting delicious wines using traditional techniques.

mark lindzyJosé Pastor was one such importer whose knowledge and passion introduced American wine drinkers to many esoteric and nearly extinct Spanish wines. One such tradition championed by Pastor are the wines of the Canary Islands, a Spanish holding off the coast of Africa, essentially cornering the market on these unique wines. We’ll try one of these and more from small wineries and producers across the mainland of Spain as beast of the biz and long-time Spain-ophile, Mark Lindzy, will be our tour guide for the evening.

If you are a fan of Spanish wines or discovering them for the first time, you are sure to find a great wine full of character from this amazing portfolio. Can’t make it to the tasting? Sign up for our newest wine class Second Course: Wines of Northern Spain – there’s still seats for next Saturday the 21st! – to continue learning more about this Old School, yet up and coming winemaking region.
